QUALITY TEACHING

Lyon is widely recognised for its expertise in the sector thanks largely to the initiative of Professor Jean COTTE who founded the first post-graduate programme in Cosmetology at the city’s university over 30 years ago.
Past students now occupy posts of responsibility in all major cosmetics groups throughout the world.

Objectives Obtaining technical and managerial skills in the domain of cosmetology and dermopharmacy
Admission conditions 6th-year pharmacy students, pharmacists, post-graduate students of science, engineering, medicine and veterinary science.

Organisation of studies 6 weeks of Technical theory
6 weeks of Practical Teaching
4 weeks (including 3at EM Lyon) of Cosmetics Management
32 weeks (36 for apprentices) on mission in a company.

Admission conditions Baccalaureate + 2 years of study at university
(DEUG, DUT, BTS, Bachelor’s degree …)
Class 15 to 20 students
Organisations of studies 9 months professional training
2 possible programmes:
• classical programme: 6 months of theory, 3 months experience in a company
• qualification contract: 50 % in a company, 50 % at ITECH

’ITECH Engineer
Objectives Training engineers in industrial processes and R&D for innovative products
Admission conditions Baccalaureate + 2 years of study at university
(Preparatory classes for ‘Grandes Ecoles’, DEUG, DUT, BTS, Bachelor’s degree …)
Class 5 to 10 students each year
Organisations of studies 3 years:
• 1 ½ years common core syllabus
• 1 ½ years specialisation including 6 months ‘End of Study work’ and 2 obligatory industrial courses

Specialist ‘Cosmetics’ Master’s Degree
Recognised University Course.
Objectives Training managers of industrial procedures and in the area of R&D for innovative products
Admission conditions Master’s degree in sciences
Class 6 to 12 students per year

• 6-7 months for the ‘Professional Thesis’ in a company

Professional training in the form of conventions and symposiums

> European Dermocosmetology Seminar
Held in Lyon every two years by the CED (2-day seminar)
200 to 300 participants from the majority of national and some international firms.

> Journée Thématique Lyonnaise de Dermocosmétologie (Lyon Dermocosmetology Forum)

Organised by the CED (the theme of the first edition on 22/10/03 was ‘the contents-container interaction of cosmetic products’).
Different actors from the Dermocosmetology sector in the Rhône-Alpes region discussed issues concerning technical, regulatory and marketing matters.

Classes in skin biology organised every year by INSERM
Leading centre for research and marketing

> BIOVISION, World Forum of life sciences
Organised every two years in Lyon by the Fondation Scientifique de Lyon et du Sud-Est
